The Stick of Truth is as unconventional as they get. That is thanks to a scene that plays out like Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, only with much more scrotum dodging. They start going at it on their bed while you fight off a band of underwear-stealing gnomes on the opposite dresser — because South Park. The fight does not end there, as soon you find yourself locked in conflict with an Underpants Warlock on the bed, dodging limbs and swinging appendages with graphic quick time events. Kind of like in your nightmares. Flirting is a real-life mechanic that indicates you would like to indulge in a little romance-a-bants, and perhaps more.

Jun 21, 4 Can’t say I’m terribly excited for any of them other than Dark Souls 3. Not that these other games won’t be good of course. Xenoblade was supposed to be super grindy still haven’t played it because it’s expensive , and I despise time wasting, manipulative game design techniques. Kingdom Hearts is Kingdom Hearts. As I said in another thread, gameplay-wise it looks like it could’ve been released before the PS2 lifecycle even ended, which is disappointing.
It looks fun of course, and I’ll definitely play it. But I can’t say I’m excited. Never played the first NeiR. Heard it was pretty decent. I freaking hate Platinum Games though. They’re like the Micheal Bay of games to me, with everything being watered down into nothing more than button mashing and absolutely insane nonsense storytelling with one dimensional characterization. Plus, for every one of the games they spend a lot of time polishing, they make another that’s utterly broken and clearly not thought out.
It feels like they don’t have respect for a lot of IPs, and churn out quick money makers. Just like Gearbox, it seems they largely only care if the series has a big name, or if it’s their own big budget creation see:

Posted Nov 19, by Suzie Ford EA and Activision Stocks Fall In an effort to provide an overview on what is happening and why, let’s take a look at two of the biggest companies out there. EA and Activision Blizzard fight an epic battle, not in space or with swords, but with numbers, against financial analysts.
How strange is that? These kinds of things, while not exactly commonplace, cleverly cater to our predictable and oh-so-exploitable human desire for companionship and intimacy. By offering players special partnership bonuses within the game, rewards, and whatever else, developers, crafty as ever, find new ways to skim a little more gravy off the top of of the meaty, delicious money-cake that is their playerbase. It could very well be that the implementation of these mechanics was driven by a kind of pure, humanitarian benevolence.
Frankly, I would love to be able to have some kind of combat advantage for my boyfriend and I while we plow through things, or special unlockable gear that enables us, when playing together, to cut an even more efficient and bloody swath through the droves of our enemies. It truly would be romantic, now that I think about it. Would you like to see more games offer benefits and bonuses for people who form together as a pair, whether intimate or otherwise?
Why or why not? It might be nice to see more MMOs create these kinds of benefits and actually encourage people to not be such hermits within what is supposed to be a social game! Anything that helps people connect and forms bonds is okay by me.
Page 2 The ‘J’ in JRPG isn’t just a signifier of its country of origin – it’s a statement of mood, intent, and game design ethos. By the late ’90s, JRPGs would become synonymous with video game storytelling, finding a worldwide audience hungry for games that didn’t just give them an empty role to fill, but fully-realized characters to control and fall in love with over dozens of hours of gameplay.
The JRPG may have fallen out of favor in recent years, but with the release of Final Fantasy 15 and Persona 5 , the genre is making a ferocious comeback as a whole new generation of fans discover their thrilling, intricate, and strategic combat systems and unconventional, off-the-wall narratives. This list is just a small celebration of some of the best games the genre has to offer, organized by some of GamesRadar’s biggest JRPG fanatics.

A key difference between Western and Japanese systems at the time was the latter’s higher display resolutions x in order to accommodate Japanese text which in turn influenced game design. Japanese computers also employed Yamaha FM synthesis sound boards since the early s, allowing video game music composers such as Yuzo Koshiro to produce highly regarded chiptune music for RPG companies such as Nihon Falcom. The earliest was Koei ‘s Underground Exploration, released in March Impossible franchise, it replaced the traditional fantasy setting with a modern espionage setting.
The game revolves around a leader who must lead his army against overwhelming enemy forces, while recruiting soldiers along the way and with each unit able to gain experience and level up through battle. It was an early attempt at combining role-playing, turn-based grand strategy and management simulation elements, setting the standard for future simulation RPGs.
This trend continued with its sequels and other Koei games such as ‘s Bandit Kings of Ancient China as well as the Capcom game Destiny of an Emperor released that same year. While its RPG elements were limited, lacking traditional statistical or leveling systems, the game featured real-time combat with a gun, bringing it close to the action RPG formula that Falcom would later be known for. The game’s desert island overworld also featured a day-night cycle , non-player characters the player could attack or converse with, and the need to survive by finding and consuming rations to restore hit points lost with each normal action.

A handful of levels have minibosses and special teleports to allow you to move to those levels quickly if needed eg saving before the minibosses , but progression in the tower is limited by events that happen with the game timeline. Between that and the ability for your party to become tired and thus less effective in battle keeps the pacing of moving through the dungeon at a limited pace. The major nit I have so far is that between these tiers separated by these barriers the difficulty of the monsters takes a noticable jump instead of the smoother change within a tier.
This approach, it took me 3 tries to get to the next teleport point, and I gained a good deal of leveling for it.

Aug 9th at 8: Very repetitive, and it feels like it doesn’t really know where it’s going. Like the developers couldn’t structure a conversation about the time mechanics properly. Which brings us to a new topic: Final Fantasy XII had a brilliant localisation, from differing accents to in-game prose. Fast forward to past , and for some reason, localisations are much more reluctant to alter the script. Tales Of Graces F had the same problem—preserving the original dialogue too faithfully bogged down the delivery of the final product.
The jobs and social systems seemed like they didn’t require enough input and were repetitive though, and there was less and less voice acting as I went on, just text, and the voice acting besides Troy Baker wasn’t very good, the teen girl characters sounded like they were voiced by women over 30 years old trying fake high pitched anime girl voices, and the dungeon grinding became too repetitive.
But I may go back to it. I’m at the point where a female character gets taken into the TV world and you have to go through 7 levels of the dungeon to rescue her. So far I feel the writing, voice acting, and especially music is better than Persona 4, but the combat system at least in Elemia is boring so far and too easy, and the world is not grabbing me as much as the Persona 4 setup around people getting sucked into the TV world if they kiss in front of it or something, I forget now, but it subconsciously it really captured my imagination combining like the symbol of teen romance or kissing at midnight with this mystery of what’s going on.
A tribute to classic RPGs, made with passion, not greed, by old-school gamers.
